Customs clearance & maritime brokerage
Clearance is where cost accumulates fastest in the whole chain: every day cargo sits at the port is container demurrage, yard charges and a production line waiting on materials. Most of those days are lost not because customs is slow, but because the file was not right to begin with.
Scope of service
- Duty rate and customs procedure consulting
- Physical inspection, permits and approvals
- Certificate of origin registration and duty refunds
- Ship brokering and voyage chartering
Frequently asked questions
- How long does clearance take?
- Typically 6–8 working hours from aircraft landing for air freight, and 2 working days from discharge off the vessel for sea freight — provided the information supplied is complete, accurate and timely.
- What documents do I need to prepare?
- At minimum the contract, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Depending on the goods you may also need a certificate of origin, a specialised permit or quality inspection results. Send details early so we can review them in advance.
- What happens if the HS code turns out to be wrong?
- It can be corrected by supplementary declaration or amendment, depending on when it is found. Cost and risk both rise with time, which makes reviewing the code before filing the single best-value step in the process.
